Deputies have found the body of a missing Prairie Grove woman in her car near her home, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives do not suspect foul play and said May-Mogg was not the victim of a homicide. They would not rule out suicide as a cause of death.
Dana May-Mogg, 51, was reported missing May 21. She had last been seen leaving her workplace at the Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, where she was a nurse, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives located May-Mogg’s car Wednesday morning in a wooded area near her home. A body believed to be May-Mogg was found inside and will be sent to the state crime lab for positive identification and cause of death, deputies said Wednesday.
Deputies had previously searched May-Mogg’s property and surrounding area, along with other vehicles and her credit card, telephone and bank records, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
An analysis of May-Mogg’s cell phone information prompted detectives to begin searching an area near her property that was deeper in the woods. Deputies used all-terrain vehicles to help them search new areas, the Sheriff’s Office stated in a release.
