Fireworks electrified the skies of the River Valley at Kelley Park on the Fort Smith River Front.

The fireworks started with a bang of colors painting the sky. Thousand roared during the shows grand finale.

Fort Smith Vice Mayor Kevin Settle said up to 15,000 people made their way to the celebration.

"This is a great event for the city of Fort Smith,” Settle said. “The surrounding communities come together as one and celebrate our Independence Day this event here brings a lot of people together.”

One Fort Smith local said she’s been attending the celebration for years.

"I love coming out here,” said Daidrian Booker. “Seeing everybody’s reaction with our dogs is really interesting and I love watching the fireworks they always have really good fireworks out here."

Families from all over made their way out and for some it's their first ever fireworks show.

"It's always great this is her first fourth of July so we don't know how she's going to go with the fireworks I think she's going to be excited," said Marcus Bipkins.
