A portion of the Fulbright Expressway in Fayetteville will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday (July 9-10) to prepare for the next phase of the flyover construction.

The right-hand westbound lane will be closed between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to city officials.

As southbound vehicles traveling on College Avenue turn onto the Fulbright Expressway heading west, the lane shift will begin near the Olive Garden restaurant and will close the right hand lane by shifting vehicles to the left lane.

This next phase of construction includes lane width modification of Fulbright Expressway’s two westbound lanes. The project is expected to last about 150 days.

The overpass will make it easier for travelers to get to Interstate 540.

The flyover bridge will also provide an alternative way for drivers on northbound College Ave. who normally make a U-turn at Joyce Blvd. to access the Fulbright Expressway.

Instead of a U-turn, drivers will be able to take a left lane bridge that extends over southbound College Avenue traffic.

Drivers can then head west on the Fulbright Expressway or exit onto the Mall Ave. and Shiloh Dr. area.
