Former Arkansas football player Michael Robinson faces a misdemeanor possession charge after being pulled over by Fayetteville police Saturday night.

Robinson, 30, was booked in the Washington County Detention Center at 1:31 Sunday morning and released two hours later on $1,150 bond, according to the Sheriff’s Office website. Robinson has an August 2 court date and faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance and two traffic violations.

A preliminary police report said Robinson was pulled over at approximately 10:35 p.m. on the 1600 block of North Leverett Avenue by an officer after the officer noticed Robinson’s 1982 Oldsmobile did not have a license plate light. The officer said he smelled a strong odor of green marijuana coming from the car, and a search of the vehicle found 1.4 grams of marijuana under the driver’s seat, the report said.

Robinson also faces charges of having no driver’s license and no license plate light.

Robinson, from Birmingham, Ala., played for Arkansas from 2001-2005 and made 16 tackles in 21 games primarily as a special teams performer and reserve linebacker.
