A Fort Smith teen is facing charges after he allegedly robbed a woman a knifepoint at a local business.

Police were called to Blue Ribbon Grooming Saturday morning (July 6) after the clerk reported a young white man demanded money from the cash register and threatened her with a knife.

The clerk told police the suspect had been in the business a couple times that morning asking for water and to use the phone. The third time he returned is when the alleged robbery occurred, according to a police report. After getting money from the register, the suspect grabbed the business’ telephone and threw it on the floor so the clerk could not make a call.

During the investigation, authorities were able to identify a 17-year-old boy as the suspect. He was interviewed and arrested for aggravated robbery. The suspect was also connected to a July 2 commercial burglary at the Apple Market on North 6th.

The teen is being held in the Sebastian County Detention Center on those charges along with a warrant for Theft of Property out of Crawford County, according to police.
