The Southwest Elite 7-on-7 Football tournament means an economic boost for Springdale and the entire region. About 20 teams came from out of state with a total of 32 teams.

"One thing we've tried to do is give the team great hospitality, a great experience and hopefully they leave feeling good about Northwest Arkansas," said Josh Floyd, Shiloh Christian coach and organizer.

Floyd said planning started in January and said there are about 100 volunteers who help during the tournament.

"It's so fun,” said Meredith Franzke, volunteer and Shiloh Christian student. “It's been probably one of the most fun things I've been a part of."

People come from all over the country to watch the 7-on-7 tournament putting money back into Springdale's economy.

"It fills up your hotels, your restaurants and just having people come and enjoy your city is a great plus all the time," said Mayor Doug Sprouse.

Floyd said most are staying at the Holiday Inn in Springdale.

"It's been a really good location for us,” Floyd said. “We've got every single room in the hotel booked up for the event so there are a lot of people staying here."

Barbara Wilkins drove from Olive Branch, Mississippi with her husband Marvin. She said she's staying at the Embassy Suites in Rogers.

"I love it,” Wilkins said. “We have been to Shiloh Christian at least twice before. They put on a great tournament.”

Football fans spend money in local businesses and not just in Springdale.

"We want it to be here at Shiloh and are proud of that but we also want it to be a community Northwest Arkansas type thing," Floyd said.

According to Mayor Sprouse, Springdale's Advertising and Promotions Commission as well as its Chamber of Commerce keeps track of how much was the economic impact.
