Former Arkansas Razorback and United States track star Tyson Gay tested positive for a banned substance and is will pull out of next month’s World Championships in Moscow.

Gay holds the U.S. 100-meter dash record and has posted the year’s fastest time in the event.

Gay won a silver medal in the 2012 Olympics as a member of the United States’ 4 x 100 meter relay team. He also won three gold medals at the 2007 World Championships but has been plagued by hamstring and groin injuries over the past five years.

The sprinter did not reveal which substance he tested positive for. Gay also said he will have his “B” sample tested as soon as this week.

“I don’t have a sabotage story. I don’t have any lies. I don’t have anything to say to make this seem like it was a mistake or it was on USADA’s hands, someone playing games,” Gay said. “I don’t have any of those stories. I basically put my trust in someone and I was let down.”

Former world record holder Asafa Powell also tested positive for a banned substance. Powell was a member of Jamaica’s world record team in the 4 x 100 relay in the 2012 Olympics and was the last sprinter other than fellow countryman Usain Bolt to hold the record in the 100 meter dash.
