Barry Foster was one of the best running backs to play college football at Arkansas. Next month he’ll be recognized for it.
Foster will be one of nine former athletes to be inducted into the University of Arkansas’ Hall of Honor.
Foster played five seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers before injuries cut his NFL career short. He was twice a member of the Pro Bowl team and was named the 1992 AFC offensive player of the year. Foster rushed for 3,943 yards and 26 touchdowns for the Steelers. Foster racked up 2,080 yards in three seasons at Arkansas while scoring 21 rushing touchdowns.
Joining Foster will be All-Southwest Conference running back Dickey Morton, four-year basketball letter winner Charles Balentine, Olympic track and field medalist Calvin Davis, All-America baseball infielder Greg D’Alexander, Olympian and All-America swimming star Cheryl McArton Ward, All-America women’s track and field standout Edel Hackett and Heritage Era football lettermen Don Christian and Buddy Sutton.
The class will be inducted the weekend of Aug. 30-31 and will also be honored at halftime of the Razorbacks’ season opener against UL-Lafayette on Aug. 31.
