LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seale said a 50-year-old man was taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith after another man slashed him with a knife Sunday evening.
Seale said the man's injury wasn't life-threatening and the victim was able to tell officers who his alleged assailant was. Seale said law enforcement was currently looking Johnny Gill, 45, whom Seale described as 5-foot-7, 140 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.
"He has a pretty deep laceration to his chest; it's above his heart," Seale said of the victim.
Seale said the two men were with two women in Gill's mother's mobile home on State Highway 31 in the Milton Community outside of Bokoshe. After the man was slashed, Gill and the two women fled on foot into the neighboring woods, Seale said.
Seale said his office had outstanding warrants for the two women, whom he did not identify, and the search for Gill was called off because of darkness Sunday night. Seale said he would obtain an arrest warrant for Gill on Monday morning.
The sheriff said he was still trying to piece together the nature of the argument and whether alcohol or drugs played a role. Seale said the victim was speaking with deputies at Sparks.
