Lincoln Police arrest a man accused of stabbing two men during a fight at an apartment complex.

Caleb Pyle, 20, was arrested Sunday (July 21) on suspicion of two counts of first-degree battery and manufacturing methamphetamine. Police say he stabbed two men at the Townhouse Apartments on N. Carter St. before 10 p.m.

A man told officers he suffered a large cut to his right hand while trying to break up a fight between Jason McCoubrey and Pyle, according to a probable cause report. The victim, who’s name is not being released at this time, told officers he saw Caleb stab McCoubrey during the altercation.

McCoubrey was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville with stab wounds to his leg and torso, according to police. McCoubrey is in ICU and suffered a punctured lung.

Pyle’s mother says she was shocked when she found out her son was arrested.

“He had been hanging around people that I was worried about but I really didn't think he was into this, said Michele Pyle. “This is not my Caleb, this is not my son. I just really hate this.”

Pyle was taken to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. During an interview with a detective, Pyle admitted to stabbing McCoubrey, according to the report.

"I hope this will be a wake up call to help him realize that he needs to make better choices," Michele said.

A bloody knife, bloody clothing, and methamphetamine were recovered from the scene, according to the report. That report also states a working methamphetamine lab was found inside an apartment in which Pyle had been frequenting. An eyewitness told investigators the methamphetamine lab belonged to Pyle.
