Arkansas State Swim Meet Wraps Up

Dolphin-Laser Swim Team takes home overall, boys and girls titles.

The state's best swimmers competed at Fort Smith's Creekmore Park over the weekend and the event wrapped up Sunday night.

The Dolphin-Laser Swim Team took home the overall title with 1,251.0 points. RAC AquaHawgs finished second while Northwest Arkansas Aquatics finished third.

Laser Swim won both the boys and girls titles. The boys team won by a margin of 113 points.

The Fort Smith Tide Riders hosted the event and coach Tom Bullock said he just tells his swimmers to have fun.

"What I try as a coach is to really get my kids out there," Bullock said. "I don't want them to think very much. I just want them to race. Just like a little kid wants to race another kid on the playground. That's what it's all about."

Mulberry natice Caleb Murder got on the podium for the first time on Sunday.

"It feels great," Murder said. "It's the first time I've ever been on the podium. It feels amazing."

Finishing on the podium also caught Fort Smith's Grace Clayton off guard.

"I haven't dropped that much time," Clayton said. "That's why that was such a shock for me. I just went out and raced and had fun."
