Americans win Gold Cup for first time since 2007

American soccer has been taken to new heights.

The United States won their record 11th straight match and won the Gold Cup title in the process as the U.S. Men’s National team beat Panama 1-0 at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday.

Brek Shea scored the game’s only goal in the 69th minute to keep America’s win streak in tact. This is the first time since 2007 that America has won the Gold Cup.

“It doesn’t matter who scored today,” Shea said. “We won.”

Shea found the net after a ball just skimmed off the foot of Landon Donovan and Shea pitched it in just before it crossed the goal line.

U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann was not on the sidelines as he was suspended for being thrown out of the 3-1  semifinal win against Honduras on Wednesday.

“They wanted to send out a signal that they are the best group in CONCACAF, and they are,” Klinsmann said. “For today.”
