Bailee McCorkle clears 11 feet at the age of 14–not in height, but in pole vaulting.The impressive feat earns her the title of Junior Olympic All-American Medalist. McCorkle brings home the bronze medal from the Unites States of America Track and Field Junior Olympics held in Greensboro, North Carolina held on July 24th.
McCorkle, who will be a freshman this year at Greenwood Junior High, is not a stranger to titles and records. In fact, at the age of 12 as a 7th grader, McCorkle broke the Greenwood Junior High girls record and broke the Greenwood Senior High girls record by clearing 9’6″. That same year she set a new 5A Junior High conference record. Just this past season, Bailee surpassed her own school records by clearing 11’6″ at the 6A Regionals meet in Bentonville, setting a new Regional record.
McCorkle says she is looking forward to another successful year. She will be jumping for Greenwood Senior High this upcoming track season. She continues to train, with her 2014 goal of clearing the 13′ bar.
