Sebastian County Holds “National Night Out” Tuesday

Sebastian County law enforcement will meet with community members as part of “
National Night Out
,” Tuesday (Aug. 6) at the Fort Smith Convention Center.

The annual event is designed to strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement officials.

The free family-friendly event is from 5-8 p.m. at the center located at 800 Rogers Avenue.

Families are encouraged to enjoy both inside and outside events which includes live entertainment from Mr. Bobby Lopez and Common Thread Blues Grass band, as well as, a water slide, dunk tank, and bounce around houses.

Sebastian County deputies will also be there to provide ID kits to parents for their children. Officials with the sheriff’s office, Fort Smith Police, Arkansas State Police and other public safety and family service organizations will be on hand to meet residents. There will also be a K-9 demonstration from the Fort Smith Police Department.

It’s the 30th anniversary of the National Night Out movement. Community sponsors include Target, 5 Star, Immaculate Conception School, and Chik-Fil-A. Refreshments will be provided by Arvest and CV’s Family Foods.
