Brad Lindley always wanted to be a head football coach. Now he gets his chance.
Lindley takes over at West Fork after spending the last seven seasons as an assistant at the school and is hoping to turn things around after a disappointing 2012.
“It’s been a change but it’s something I’ve looked forward to for a long time,” Lindley said. “It’s what I’ve dreamed of doing in the profession. That was the final goal, to be a head coach.”
West Fork dropped their final three games last season but the goal for 2013 is to get back to the top of the 3A-1.
“We always strive to be conference champs and anything less isn’t acceptable,” senior Kallin Stokes said.
“Obviously conference championship. That’s goal number one,” Lindley said. To show up, be prepared every Friday night and be a playoff team, make a deep run in the playoffs and see what happens.”
Wyatt Montgomery rushed for more than 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns last year while senior quarterback Dylan Clayton also returns.
“Staying healthy and working hard, everyday coming to practice and just trying to get better everyday,” Clayton said.
West Fork starts the 2013 season with three straight games against 4A teams starting at Gentry on Sept. 6
