A missing Panama, Okla., man was found Thursday afternoon (Aug. 8), according to LeFlore County Undersheriff Kendall Morgan.

James McCage, 50, was found by Panama Police near the sewer lagoons around 1:30 p.m., Morgan said. He was dehydrated and disoriented.

McCage wandered away from his home on Louisiana Street in Panama Wednesday afternoon, according to family members.

He suffered a stroke at the beginning of the year and has dementia, the family says. He is also diabetic and partially blind, a “silver alert” from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol states.

Panama police and the fire department began looking for the man on Wednesday, but couldn’t locate him. Officials with LeFlore County Emergency Management and volunteers joined the search Thursday along the railroad tracks near the AES Plant and near the Poteau River. Helicopters combed the area all morning.

The searched the town twice and the crews were exhausted Thursday, LeFlore County Sheriff Rob Seale said.
