A Van Buren man was convicted on 11 counts of rape in a Crawford County court room Thursday (Aug. 8), according to prosecutor Marc McCune.
A jury found Earl Pigg, 49, guilty on the 11 counts and he was sentenced to serve 11 consecutive life sentences in prison. McCune said Pigg raped an underage girl on several occasions.
His trial began Monday.
Pigg was arrested Aug. 13, 2012, after he crashed his motorcycle during a pursuit with police. Officers were attempting to stop and arrest him on rape charges when he crashed into a tree in the 500 block of N. 24th of Van Buren. He was hospitalized and then booked into the county jail.
Police had been investigating rape allegations against Pigg since July of that year.
