Beekeepers Harvest Honey from Former KFSM Bee Colony
Local beekeepers removed six gallons of honey from the bee colony that was once attached to the KFSM studios in Fort Smith.
The hive first appeared in spring 2011. The Arkansas Beekeepers Association later removed the large colony in February and placed them into hives. They estimated up to 80,000 bees were in the colony.
The beekeepers decided to share some of the honey with Channel 5 employees this week.
If you’d like to learn about bee keeping, the West Arkansas/Eastern Oklahoma beekeepers Association meets at the Janet Huckabee River Valley Nature Center at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
