PHOTOS: Family Escapes Flooded Home Through Window
A family in Johnson is coping with flooding from storms that swamped the town this week.
Several inches of water was standing in Chris Moore’s home on Staci Place. After two floods in less than two years nearly destroyed the home, they are finding a new place to live.
Moore said the water was so high he and his wife had to escape through the living room window. Friday (Aug. 9) they packed their belongings into a U-Haul and begin drying out the inside of the home, but he said these are just short-term fixes.
The long-term goal is to get out of Johnson.
“With these rental properties, it is a cycle,” Moore said. “Move in, take a chance with the flood, move out, fix the problem. More people move in, chance of a flood, move out, now I have gone through it twice, I’m not coming back for a third time.”
