Shirley Mugley of West Fork will appear in Washington County court Friday (Aug. 16) in regards to an order of protection filed against her.

Mugley’s ex-husband, Michael Mugley, filed the order on Aug. 12 in an effort to revoke her visitation rights to their three children. The hearing set for today (August 16) will determine the outcome of the request.

Police arrested Mugley after she allegedly built a pipe bomb, with the help of Andrew Cox, 20,  in an attempt to kill her ex-husband.

Cox had a previous romantic relationship with Mugley, according to a preliminary arrest report. He was released from the Washington County Detention Center on $5,000 bond on August 9.

Deputies said Cox, who faces a felony charge of criminal use of a prohibited weapon, told police he went with Shirley Mugley to buy materials to make the pipe bomb. Cox and Mugley made the bomb in the basement of Mugley’s house on the 14000 block of Highway 265 South, according to a preliminary arrest report.

Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder said Mugley and her husband had a history of domestic disturbances and Mugley was displeased with the sheriff department’s handling of the situation.

Her arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 19.
