State alcohol officials are waiting on crime lab results to decide whether to take any disciplinary actions against a Fayetteville Hooters in a man’s death.
Gilbert Flores, 34, died Aug. 6, five days after being struck by a van while trying to cross College Avenue late the night of Aug. 1. He had been drinking alcohol at the nearby Hooters restaurant prior to the collision, said Rick Crisman with state Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Now the ABC is trying to figure out how much Flores had been drinking at the restaurant. Police said they suspect Flores was intoxicated at the time of the crash and took blood samples. ABC officials are waiting on the results of those samples, Crisman said.
If the samples show Flores was intoxicated, the Hooters could face disciplinary actions from the state if evidence shows it served an intoxicated customer. Disciplinary actions could include a revocation of its alcohol permit, Crisman said.
Crisman stressed the investigation is in its beginning stages, and the Hooters may not have broken any state alcohol laws.
Management at the Hooters location announced earlier this week it would close its doors and move to a different location, although they said the move was planned before Flores’ death.
