The University of Arkansas released its football schedule for 2014 on Wednesday with many firsts.

For the first time since joining the league, in 1992 the Hogs will not play LSU in the season finale Thanksgiving weekend. Missouri becomes a protected cross-over rivalry and will take LSU’s place on the Saturday of Thanksgiving.

Arkansas will open the 2014 season at Auburn on Aug. 30, the first time playing an SEC game as the season opener.

The home schedule is littered with qualtiy opponents. Arkansas will host Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss in conference play, and travel to Mississippi State. Both the Alabama and LSU games will be played the week after a bye.

To start the 2014 season Arkansas will be away from Fayetteville on four of the first five weekends. After the Aug. 30 game at Auburn, the Razorbacks will hosts Nicholls State on Sept. 6 and Northern Illinois on Sept. 20. One of those games will be played at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

On Sept. 13 Arkansas will be at Texas Tech as part of a home-and-home series. On Sept. 27 the Razorbacks play Texas A&M in Arlington, Tex.

Arkansas loses South Carolina on the schedule, a team they have played every year since joining the league together.
