Traffic lanes in Fayetteville will be closed all week for the construction of the $6 million flyover project.

A southbound lane of College Avenue and a westbound lane of the Fulbright Expressway will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The flyover will allow drivers traveling northbound on College Avenue to access the Fulbright Expressway without having to make a U-turn at the intersection of Joyce Boulevard and College Avenue.

Drivers will be able to merge onto the bridge from College Avenue and easily access Interstate 540.

"I think that Fayetteville definitely could use some enhanced traffic movement, so any work that they're going to do, I think is great," Betina Henschel said.

Some drivers are not thrilled about the construction.

"It just slows everything down, so if you are trying to get to class on time or go anywhere like the bank or get food it's just going to take like 10 extra minutes of stand-still traffic," Ashley McCormick said.

The contractor projects the flyover should be completed by next May.
