VIDEO: Defense Talks Stopping Mobile Quarterback

Arkansas defense talks about containing Louisiana Lafayette Quarterback Terrance Broadway.

The University of Arkansas kicks off the 2013 football season against Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The defensive players and coaches talked with the media about the opener on Wednesday.

Here's the recap:

Defensive Coordinator Chris Ash on containing Louisiana Lafayette Quarterback Terrance Broadway: He's got good feet and good speed. Broadway makes their offense go. We also have to focus on their running backs and wide receivers.

Defensive Line Coach Charlie Partridge: Broadway is a threat. He has a good arm and makes good decisions running the ball.

Safety Eric Bennett: Arkansas' rushers need to stay in their lanes. We need to get pressure on Broadway and keep him in the pocket.

Linebacker Jarrett Lake on Louisiana Lafayette's running backs: After contact the running backs keep their feet moving. In practice this week I have been working on wrapping up and keeping my feet moving.

Defensive Coordinator Chris Ash thoughts on season opener: The coaching staff is excited for Saturday. I am excited to see how the players will handle game day and how they will play with the stands full.

Linebacker Braylon Mitchell on linebacker rotation: I like the scheme. It is going to give the guys a lot of rest so that when we are on the field we are able to fly around and make plays.

Linebacker Austin Jones on making his first start: I am ready and prepared to make my first start. There are still things to do, but I believe everything will fall into place.

Linebacker Jarrett Lake on pride in linebacking core: There is a whole bunch of pride. We are going out on Saturday with a chip on our shoulders. We are going to go out there have fun and fly around.

Linebacker Braylon Mitchell on excitement for new era to begin: We have a new head coach. It is a new day to be a Razorback. I am excited to be a part of this new defense and am looking forward to see how Saturday goes.
