Mike Falleur was brought in as the new Northside head coach not to just win football games. Falleur returns to his alma mater to change the culture and the attitude of the Grizzlies’ football program.
“He’s from Northside so he’s bringing it back to where it used to be,” senior Josh Kinnard said.
“I’m really excited,” Falleur said. “It’s hard to believe that it was eight months ago and we were standing over there in the activities center just getting started. They’ve really done a good job in what we’ve asked them to do and the changes that we’ve made. Whether we are ready or not. We are ready to play a football game.”
Northside’s offense has been among the best in the state over the past six seasons but the defense received a facelift in the offseason.
“The thing I thought we needed to change was the physicality of our football team so we brought back practicing in full pads,” Falleur said. “We brought back full contact scrimmages, making sure every day we are doing something physical in practice and then talking to our kids about believing in themselves. That they can be good football players. They are good football players and if you’re a good football play you can make a good football team.”
