Three gunshot victims were hospitalized after an overnight shooting at Y Liquors in Springdale, police said.

Springdale police responded to the incident just before midnight on Saturday (Aug. 31) at 1817 S. Thompson St. after receiving multiple 911 calls.

The three victims, who were not identified by police Sunday (Sept. 1), were admitted to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Manager of the Shell Gas Station, Rush Shah, is just two businesses down from the liquor store. He said he couldn't believe the news.

"A shooting like that where three people got shot is kind of disturbing but I don't think that there should be anymore incidents as far as I can tell," Shah said.

Shah said the area is normally quiet and crimes are rare.

"Even when the nights that I've stayed here late, I've never seen hardly any trouble around here or anything," Shah said.

One Y Liquors customer, who identified himself as John Smith, said he was at the store between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

"If you are in the wrong place, at the wrong time you never know what's going to happen," Smith said.

Smith said Y Liquor closes its doors 15 minutes before closing time and the drive-through stays open until midnight.

"A line forms and a lot of times tempers flare," Smith said. "If you don't get up there by 12 o'clock exactly you're not going to get what you want."

By early Sunday, the victims were unable to provide a motive for the shooting, police said. In the meantime, while detectives search for the shooter, Shah said he already had plans to add and upgrade security cameras.

"That way I know I feel safe, my employees feel safe. Even if somebody thinks about doing anything they know that hey we're being recorded, it's probably not a wise thing to do,"

Police are seeking a male suspect driving a silver truck, according to a police department news release.
