Livestock Expo Kicks Off Crawford County Fair
The Annual Crawford County Fair kicked off in Mulberry Monday (Sept. 9) with livestock exhibitions.
Dozens of farmers made their way to the fair grounds early Monday morning to prepare and get their animals ready.
Natalie Tarmey said she was up at the fair grounds first thing Monday getting her goats ready for the competition.
“I’m really excited,” Natalie Tarmey said. “I’ve been doing it since I was really little.”
Tarmey spent all day Monday tending to her goats, making sure they had plenty of food and water before the night’s activities began.
“There’s just nothing like being at the fair,” Tarmey said.
Tom Meadors, Chairman of the Crawford County Fair, agreed, saying that he couldn’t wait for the gates to open to the public.
“I love to see these little kids come on down with their animals,” said Meadors. “From the time they’re big enough to walk, they come to the county fair.”
The goats are just one of dozens of animals that will be on display this week for the county fair. Other animals include horses, sheep, rabbits and chickens.
“We’re very excited because people will be coming out and they’ll check out all of the exhibits and they’ll check out the farm animals,” said Mulberry Mayor Gary Baxter.
“There’s a lot of excitement that goes on here after 6 o’clock every night so everybody just needs to come on out and enjoy the county fair,” Meadors said.
The fair will be in Mulberry through Saturday. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children.
