In the River Valley:
- The Fort Smith Fire Dept. will conduct a brief ceremony at 9:28 a.m. to commemorate the collapse of the second World Trade Center Buildling. Citizens are asked to arrive at 9:15 a.m. The program will include a bell ceremony to honor first responders who perished during rescue efforts, and the Fort Smith Fire Department Honor Guard will perform a bagpipe solo of “Amazing Grace”.
- The Crawford County National Day of Prayer committee is sponsoring a “9/11 Memorial and Call to Prayer”. The event begins at 12 p.m. on the Crawford County Courthouse lawn. Dale Brunk, a survivor who was on the 61st floor of the second World Trade Center, is scheduled to speak.
- The Crawford County Fair is honoring area military and emergency service worker tonight at 7 p.m. in Mulberry at Kirksey Park.

At the University of Arkansas, the Muslims for Peace Campaign is holding a memorial blood drive on Old Main from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mayor Lioneld Jordan and others will observe a moment of silence.
