Texas A&M gained more yards offensively than any school in history against Alabama. And it still wasn’t enough.

The Aggies racked up 628 yards but 35 straight points lifted Alabama to a 49-42 win in College Station, Texas.

Alabama (2-0, 1-0 SEC) fell behind 14-0 less than eight minutes into the game but the defending national champion stormed back. A.J. McCarron hit Kevin Norwood for a 22-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter and that opened the flood gates for the Alabama offense.

McCarron finished with 334 yards passing while completing 20-of-29 attempts with four scores, including a 5-yard connection with fullback Jalston Fowler that sealed the win with 2:28 left in the game.

Johnny Manziel completed 28-of-39 passes for a career high 464 yards and five touchdowns while adding 98 more yards on the ground. Manziel was picked off twice including one that was returned 73 yards by Vinnie Sunseri that gave Alabama a 35-14 lead early in the third quarter.
