Chiefs Take Down Cowboys 17-16
Andy Reid was brought into Kansas City to try to turn around a scuffling franchise.
Now the Chiefs are 2-0 after a 17-16 win against the Cowboys at Arrowhead Stadium.
Alex Smith threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns while adding a game high 57 yards rushing to lead Kansas City. Jamaal Charles had 55 yards rushing and scored the game’s first touchdown on a two yard pass from Smith in the first quarter.
The Cowboys had to rely heavily on the arm of Tony Romo as Dallas’ running game was nonexistent. DeMarco Murray had 25 yards rushing to lead the team as they were held to just 37 yards on 16 attempts.
Romo completed 30-of-42 passes for 298 yards and a two yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant in the first quarter. Bryant had nine catches for 141 yards and the Cowboys lone touchdown.
Dan Bailey was 3-of-3 on field goals for the Cowboys, connecting on kicks of 51, 30 and 53 yards. Bailey’s 53-yarder with 3:55 left in the game set the final margin.
