Woman Critical after Suspected DWI Crash near Stilwell

A Stillwell woman was life-lighted in critical condition to Fayetteville’s Washington Regional Medical Center after a suspected DWI crash Saturday night.

A Stilwell woman was taken by helicopter in critical condition to Fayetteville’s Washington Regional Medical Center after a suspected DWI crash Saturday night.

Oklahoma High Patrol said Richard Lee Holcomb, 56, of Sallisaw, was driving a 2005 Ford FX5 southbound on Highway 59, 7.5 miles south of Stilwell around 8 p.m. Saturday when he swerved off the roadway to the right, struck a rock, and flipped over the vehicle.

Holcomb along with another passenger, Lewis Lynn Nelson, 43, of Sallisaw, were transported to Stillwell Hospital where they were both treated and released.

A third passenger, Katherine Marie Foster suffered severe injuries.  Authorities say she was pinned in the vehicle for about 15 minutes before being rescued.  She was life flighted by Eagle Med.  to Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville with head, arm, and trunk-internal injuries where she was last listed to be in critical condition.

OHP said Holcomb smelled of alcohol. Authorities have not said what charges he may be facing in the crash.
