Sun Blinds Drivers in Morning Wrecks
The sun may be to blame for two early morning wrecks in Fort Smith.
Police say a driver hit a pole in the 1700 block of Dallas Street around 7:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 23).
Paramedics treated a woman and little girl on the scene before putting the woman on a stretcher. An eyewitness tells 5NEWS the little girl was standing and appeared responsive to first responders.
Their injuries are unknown at this time.
Less than ten minutes after that crash, the sun is being blamed for another accident in Fort Smith.
In this three car wreck on Albert Pike, no one was taken to the hospital.
The driver of a Ford F-150 was driving east on Grand Avenue when he was temporarily blinded by the sun causing him to run a red light through Albert Pike, according to police.
A car t-boned the truck then the truck hit another car.
The driver of the third car, who is pregnant, told 5NEWS she was taking herself to the doctor to be sure she doesn’t have any complications.
Traffic was slow in both areas while police cleared the scenes.
