Across Arkansas and the country, many are being sent home because of a government shutdown.

Here’s a quick look at some of the places affected:

OPEN:
U.S. Postal Service
Public Schools
Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid Offices
SNAP/WIC Offices
Military
Federal Food Inspectors
Airports
Federal Prisons
Federal Courts
Border Security and Patrol

CLOSED:
Internal Revenue Service
U.S. Capitol
National Parks & Museums
National Zoos
Clinton Library & Museum
Federal websites
Veterans Administration Benefit Offices

According to Governor Mike Beebe’s office, up to 2,000 workers Arkansas may be furloughed because of the shutdown, including employees at the Department of Human Services (DHS), Department of Health and Department of Workforce Services (DWS), all of which receive federal funding.
