Campers at Beaver Lake had until 8 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 2) to leave the camp grounds due to the government shutdown.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers oversees the grounds. There are 11 public campgrounds around Beaver Lake with roughly 50 campers using the grounds.

Park Rangers told campers Tuesday that they would have to leave. Nearby Businesses have been impacted, too.

"We are having quite a few cancellations. We have a number that are hanging in there hoping that something will change", said Isis Martel with Beaver Lake Lodge.

A large fishing tournament at Beaver Lake is set for this weekend but for now, it has been moved down the road to the Highway 12 bridge.
