Suspicious Packages at Jacksonville International Airport

(CNN) — An incident involving suspicious packages that forced the evacuation of Jacksonville International Airport was a hoax, a federal law enforcement source said Wednesday.

A suspect is likely to be charged with making a hoax bomb threat, the source said, adding that there is no link to terrorism.

The suspect was arrested at the airport, according to CNN affiliate WJXT.

The FBI is assisting in the probe.

The airport was evacuated Tuesday. Hours later, officials issued an all-clear. Some arriving flights were diverted, and some passengers who were on planes that had already landed were brought to hotels.

“We erred on the side of caution in terms of doing whatever’s necessary to make sure that everybody is safe,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority spokesman Michael Stewart said.

Shannon Harley, with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, told reporters that a device was found and rendered safe. He provided no other details.

CNN’s Dave Alsup and Rich Phillips contributed to this report.
