Arkansas jumped out to an early 7-0 lead but the Florida defense showed why they entered Saturday’s tilt with the Razorbacks ranked No. 2 in total defense.
Loucheiz Purifoy returned a Brandon Allen interception 42 yards for a score that sparked a huge run for the Gators en route to Florida’s 30-10 win.
Tyler Murphy and Solomon Patton hooked up twice for touchdowns, the first going 51 yards in the final seconds of the first half as Florida took a 17-7 lead into halftime.
Patton then gave the Gators a 24-7 lead with a 38-yard catch and run with 11:23 left in the third quarter.
Murphy finished 240 yards on 16-of-22 passing with three scores. Allen struggled as he was 16-of-40 for 163 yards and was knocked out with a hand injury but the sophomore did return.
Alex Collins led Arkansas with 54 yards rushing but the Razorbacks were held to just 111 yards on the ground and less than four yards per attempt.
