South Carolina Hammers Arkansas

Gamecocks rout Hogs, 52-7

Arkansas scored on the game's opening possession and looked to be poised to upset No. 14 South Carolina.

Then the Gamecocks scored 52 straight points.

South Carolina held Arkansas to just 30 yards passing as Bret Bielema was handed his worst loss in his coaching career as the Razorbacks went down 52-7 on homecoming.

Connor Shaw was 19-of-28 passing for South Carolina with 219 yards and three touchdowns while adding 37 yards rushing and another score. Mike Davis continued to pile up huge chucks of yards as he rushed for 128 yards and a touchdown.

Arkansas, who lost their fourth straight game, committed three turnovers including an interception that was returned inside the Razorbacks' 10-yard line.

The Razorbacks rushed for 217 yards, with 69 coming from receiver Keon Hatcher. Hatcher broke a 50 yard run but lost a fumble at the end of the run to kill a possession. Alex Collins also lost a fumble after a 28 yard run that hit the pylon, resulting in a touchback for the Gamecocks.

South Carolina dominated every statistical category, including time of possession despite Arkansas attempting just 13 passes. The Razorbacks had the ball for just 16:35 of the 60 minutes. The Gamecocks had 537 yards of total offense.

Things won't get any easier for Arkansas as they travel to No. 1 Alabama next Saturday.
