Thousands Temporarily Lose Power In River Valley

More than half of the SWEPCO customers in Sebastian County lost power for part of Monday night, although it’s unclear if the outages were related to storms moving into the area.

Southwestern Electric Power Company showed 2,861 households without power in Sebastian County around 9 p.m. on Monday night. That number fell to 519 by 10 p.m.

About 480 households lost their power in Scott County, according to SWEPCO’s outage map. Power was restored to all affected Scott County homes by 10 p.m., according to SWEPCO.

SWEPCO’s website states that the Sebastian County power outages, at their peak, amounted to 54 percent of the company’s customers in the county. About 22 percent of Scott County customers were without power, according to SWEPCO
