A pickup collided with a Union Pacific train carrying coal just outside Sallisaw, Okla., early Wednesday (Oct. 16) after the truck driver said his foot slipped off the brake while he was waiting for the train to go by, authorities said.
Ron Fair, 67, of Sequoyah County received a small cut on one hand and declined medical treatment at the scene, authorities said. The train had been traveling about 50 mph when the accident happen about 9 a.m., authorities said.
The collision happened on private property at a site with no crossing gate or lights. The train was delayed about two hours.
No citations were issued.
