Students Remember Fallen West Fork Teen
Over a thousand students, parents and teachers remembered Dillon Brawley Friday night (Oct. 18) at the West Fork High School football game.
A Washington County shooting left the 15-year-old boy dead late Tuesday afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
At the start of Friday night’s game, students paid tribute to Brawley with remarks and flowers.
Students also wore red and black, Dillon’s favorite colors.
“If he was looking down tonight, he would have the biggest smile ever,” said student Ty Gigens.
Deputies responded shortly after 4 p.m. near the intersection of Bethlehem Road and Landelius Road just west of West Fork in reference to what was reported as an accidental shooting.
Investigators found Michael Dillon Brawley dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
A neighbor told 5NEWS she heard Brawley was accidentally shot in the chest. Brawley died of a single gunshot wound, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Brawley’s body has been sent to the state crime lab to determine the official cause of death. Authorities are still investigating the shooting, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
