Family Left Homeless After Overnight Fire
A Spiro family was left out in the cold after their home went up in flames early Friday morning.
The Leflore County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a fire at the intersection of P. Collins and McDonald Road shortly after Midnight Friday.
Firefighters with the Spiro Fire Department and the Murry Spur Fire Department were called out to the home.
A family of three was inside at the time the fire broke out, but responders with Murry Spur Volunteer Fire Dept. said they made it out of the home safely.
Responders with Murry Spur said the home is considered a total loss with flames damaging more than half of the home. The cause is still under investigation, but the fire is believed to be linked to an electrical heater inside the house..
The family told firefighters they plan to stay with friends.
