Northwest Arkansas medical crews responded to at least four crashes that hospitalized nine people Friday afternoon, as a busy day of wrecks closed off traffic in several areas.

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle wreck that totaled at least one of the vehicles near the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Starr Drive (photo above).

Emergency crews responded to the scene in reference to a crash that needed extrication. At least one person was extricated from one of the vehicles, and three were transported to the hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.

The crash smashed the front of a white sport utility vehicle, breaking the windshield and knocking a tire off of the vehicle. Police are still investigating the wreck.

A pair of separate wrecks around 3:30 p.m. in Rogers hospitalized two children and two adults, on Highway 102 near Water Tower Road and Bekaert Drive. Seven emergency units from Rogers responded to the crashes, which held up traffic on the highway for about 45 minutes.

Crews believe those four injuries to be non-life-threatening, according to the Rogers Fire Department. The patients were sent to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

Around the same time, medical helicopters were called to Highway 71 near West Fork in reference to a motorcycle crash with multiple injuries. The helicopters were called off, but ambulances with Central Emergency Medical Services transported two people to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The crash happened just south of the Brentwood rest area on the highway, according to Central Emergency Medical Services.
