Police arrested a Fayetteville man on Halloween night after they say he stole cigarettes from a mini-mart while dressed as a star of the “Duck Dynasty” TV show.

Cody Downing, 25, was arrested in the early morning hours of Friday on suspicion of commercial burglary, theft of property and criminal mischief. He remained Friday afternoon in the Washington County Detention Center on $3,500 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

His arraignment is set for Dec. 2.

An eyewitness called police Friday morning and reported that a white man in camouflage pants and a fake white beard busted a window at the North Street Mini-Mart in Fayetteville. Responding officers chased the suspect down a nearby trail and were able to catch up with him, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Downing told police he was dressed as Si Robertson from “Duck Dynasty” for Halloween, the report states.

Downing allegedly threw several packs of cigarettes under a nearby tree before being searched by officers. Police found several more packs of Newport brand cigarettes on him, they said. The suspect denied being at the mini-mart, and was arrested at the scene, the preliminary report states.
