Bill Burckart, a member of the Bentonville City Council, announced Thursday (Nov. 7) he is running in the 2014 election for the state House District 93 seat held by Rep. Jim Dotson, R-Bentonville.
Burckart, a 48-year-old Republican, has served as an alderman in Bentonville since first winning election in 2008 and has been owner and president of Burckart Construction since 1989.
Dotson, serving in his first two-year legislative term, is a former member of the Bentonville City Council.
Burckart said he is running in part to promote private-sector job growth.
“I feel this is my main mission of why I am running,” he said in a statement. “I feel I have the experience to understand the challenges and the hard work it takes to build a business, and I understand the feeling of a paycheck in someone’s hands after a good day’s work.”
