A Sequoyah County husband and his cousin were arrested Sunday after deputies say they tied up the husband’s wife and raped her over the weekend, according to the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
A 32-year-old woman was awoken Sunday morning by a figure standing above her head. The unknown male and the woman’s husband then used zip ties to tie the alleged victim’s arms and legs, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
After being raped by her husband during the altercation, the woman escaped and contacted authorities, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies later located and arrested both suspects in the case. The unknown male was the husband’s cousin, deputies said.
Both men were booked Sunday into the Sequoyah County Detention Center. The cousin faces a felony charge of kidnapping, while the husband faces felony charges of kidnapping and rape, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
No names are being released at this time.
