Four people were hospitalized Sunday afternoon when a small aircraft flown by an allegedly drunk pilot struck a pickup truck on a Delaware County, Okla., highway, according to a state police crash report.
Henry Edwin Rohman, 61, took off from a private airstrip while piloting a 2003 ultra-light Powrachute Pegasus. His aircraft, a small craft that employs a parachute, failed to clear Oklahoma Highway 127 and collided with a 2003 Dodge Ram truck.
Rohman and his passenger, Jim Darrell, refused treatment when emergency crews responded to the scene. The truck’s driver and three passengers were transported to Integris Hospital in Grove with arm and head injuries, according to an Oklahoma State Police crash report. The extent of their injuries was not mentioned in the report.
The crash report states the cause of the collision as the pilot driving under the influence of alcohol. The odor of alcohol was noticeable on Rohman’s breath, the report states.
Patricia Ann Mills, 57, of Jay, Okla., was listed as the truck’s driver. The names of the three truck passengers are withheld in the crash report. The men in the aircraft are from Seneca, Mo., according to the report.
The collision occurred at 4:28 p.m. a few miles northeast of Zena, Okla.
