ROGERS FIRE

A man is in the hospital with life-threatening burn injuries after a fire broke out at a single-story home in Rogers early Wednesday morning (Nov. 13).

That fire happened at 110 E. Allen St. in Rogers, according to  Battalion Chief Eddie Thompson.

Authorities said two people were home when the fire started.

One man was flown by medical helicopter to a burn unit in Springfield, Mo., Thompson said. The man suffered severe burns to his upper body and has respiratory damage. The man was trying to put the fire out with a bucket and water before responders got on scene, according to authorities.

A woman was also in the house when the fire broke out, but she escaped without any injuries, authorities said.

The fire was first reported to the Rogers Fire Department at 1:04 a.m. as a grass fire, according to authorities. However, once crews got on scene, they said they realized it was a home that was burning. Authorities said by 1:40 a.m the fire was under control.

Fire crews said more than half of the house was destroyed by the flames and the home is a total loss.

Investigators said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Thompson said crews will return to the scene later Wednesday (Nov. 13) morning to further investigate what could have caused the fire. Thompson added that crews believe electrical problems could be to blame.

No other buildings or homes were in danger during the fire, according to Thompson.
