Flames shot out of a Fort Smith home Thursday night, as crews fought a house fire they say left the structure a total loss.
The Fort Smith Fire Department responded just before 10 p.m. near the intersection of 31st Street and Alabama Avenue. Firefighters took up a defensive position while hosing down the flames, since the house was completely engulfed and unlikely to be saved, according to the fire department.
No injuries were reported. Firefighters believe the house is vacant.
