Police arrested a suspected Springdale drug dealer who led officers on a short chase after ramming a police car with his Chevy Camaro, according to police.

Douglas Crowley, 32, was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of five counts of possession of a controlled substance, along with one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated assault, fleeing from police, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and violating parole.

Crowley remained Tuesday night in the Washington County Detention Center without bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. He has a court date set for Friday (Nov. 22).

The local Drug Task Force has been investigating Crowley over the last several months in connection with a large methamphetamine organization operating out of Northwest Arkansas. A confidential informant working with the drug agents purchased methamphetamine from Crowley, as police believed him to be one of the larger methamphetamine suppliers in the organization, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Agents attempted to arrest Crowley after seeing his yellow Chevrolet Camaro parked outside of a local motel. Police converged on the suspect as he was attempted to drive out of the parking lot, but Crowley “spun the Camaro around and rammed the front of another uniformed officer’s marked unit,” incapacitating both vehicles, the preliminary report states.

Police said Crowley then left his vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect was soon run down by drug agents and tackled while he was allegedly attempted to pull something out of his waistband, the report states.

Officers handcuffed the suspect and found a large folding knife in his waistband, police said.

Agents searched Crowley and allegedly found a silver pill container, more than eight grams of methamphetamine, a barrel-shaped container, six Oxycodone pills, six Ecstasy pills, about seven Alprazolam pills, two Hydrocodone pills, 1.5 grams of marijuana, a spoon and marijuana pipe.

Officers found an undercover money belt in Crowley’s car with $2,943 inside, the report states. Agents also allegedly found in his car more than 165 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, three ledgers, a silver spray bottle hidden compartment, and two glass meth pipes.
