Temperatures in Northwest Arkansas dipped below freezing Friday night, but that didn’t stop local fans from coming out and supporting their high school football teams on the second weekend of the state playoffs.

Hot chocolate and blankets ruled the night in Bentonville, with the high school’s second-round game against Fort Smith Southside High School kicking off around 7 p.m. with temperatures near freezing.

By 9 p.m., temperatures measured around 30 degrees. Fans sat on blankets while wearing multiple layers of clothing. Some moisture fell lightly by around 10 p.m., but the night was rain-free.

The cold weather did not stop the Bentonville players, who pulled out a 45-13 win to advance to the 7A semi-finals. Bentonville High School is set to take on Conway next week.
